Dear Internet,
Is it really a new year already? I apologize for my lack of posting. Things have been, well, a little crazy. I found out this summer that we’re expecting baby #5! Bit of a shocker, seeing as I gave away ALL of my baby everything. Go figure, right? hahah We're all super excited and the girls are hoping for another girl, the boys another boy. I’m now 32 weeks and cannot wait to feel somewhat normal again (and I have to admit I'm hoping this little one decides to come a little early. I can always hope, right?)

So here are just a few of the fun photo sessions that took place over the last few months. Be prepared for a LOT of photos!

I love photographing Lexi. She’s the sweetest little girl and her smile is infectious.

Such a sweet little family. These were Caitlin and Jordan's engagement and soon-to-be family photos.

One of my favorite families and I love that Roberta and I found out we’re both expecting within a couple weeks of each other.

This was a beautiful wedding and we headed to Sundance Lake for some family photos.

I love it when families come back to me for photos. It’s so fun to see the kids grow and these boys are a blast!!

Nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby. This little man is #4 in his family and the first boy! I loved watching his sisters with him – you could tell how much they simply adore him.

Later in the summer was Caitlin and Jordan’s wedding and it was wonderful. She made such a beautiful bride

The day after the wedding we headed out for family photos before some of Caitlin’s sisters headed back to the states and northern Alberta. It was a big, but super fun group.

I have had the pleasure of photographing this little guy every 3 months since shortly after he was born. I have loved being able to see him grow up over the last year. Hard to believe he’s a year old already!

Another fabulous family. I think I say this about all the families that I photograph, but they truly are.

My last family session of the year! And what a way to finish it off with this beautiful family. We lucked out and we were able to take some without the snow. I think it ended up snowing a TON just a couple days after we took these. I don’t know what it is, but I’m loving the look of black and white photos lately too. What do you think?

I also did a couple newborn sessions. Both babies decided to join the world 4 weeks early. This little one came in weighing 5 pounds 3 ounces. So little but so sweet. Aren’t they the cutest little girls?? and those headbands… love!
I wonder if her dark hair will stay or if she’ll end up with that beautiful blond hair like her older sisters?

The last little munchkin was my niece. She came 4 weeks early weighing a whopping 4 pounds 3 ounces. SOOO TEENY! My sister’s initial plan was for me to come in and take delivery pictures for her, but because she ended up being high risk they had a hard time even getting my mom in the delivery room. Instead they let me into the NICU where I was able to take a few pictures of her there. These pictures do not do her size justice at all - she was soooo tiny! Thankfully she’s healthy and currently up to just over 9 pounds!

My last session was with my wonderful partner in crime, Heidi. She gave birth to a beautiful 8lb 12oz baby girl at home only a few days after our little session. I wish I could look like Heidi when pregnant!

So that's the last little bit in a nutshell. I hope to be able to pick things up again after baby and I have a little time to get a schedule down. Thank you for your patience and I look forward to getting back into the swing of things later in the year.

Burnham Family - Edmonton Family Photography

I had the pleasure of going up to Edmonton a couple weekends ago to hang out with some fabulous ladies. While I was there I was able to take family photos for one of my dearest friends. Her kids are SO cute! My Livie still talks about Jackson and how she's going to marry him. I love it.

You can see why she still talks about him right? Total stud!

And this little guy - Maren, can you imagine all the trouble our two boys would be in if we still lived up there? haha

Ok, this little missy steals my heart. I got to spend some time with the kids that weekend, but Ellie and I became best buds during that time. I love that she would snuggle up to me, jabbering away like I could understand. Oh how I miss them!

Rose - Calgary Newborn Photography

Meet baby Rose. Her mommy is one of my good friends and I'm so glad I was able to do maternity and newborn photos with her. Rose joined this world a whopping 9lb 3oz and 23 inches long! And she is the sweetest chubby babe ever.

Graduating - Calgary Senior Photography

Every year about this time I think back to when I graduated. On one of the last few days of classes my English teacher read us "Oh! The Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss. I still get a little teary eyed to this day as I read it. The end is probably my most favorite part...

That being said, it was an absolute pleasure photographing these youth (and needless to say, brought back some fond highschool memories). The girls looked beautiful in their grad dresses. And oh how I LOVED the location - it was AWESOME!! I loooooove the old truck.

My beautiful sister in law is expecting baby #2 in August only days before my younger brother's birthday. We're all so excited to find out what this little munchkin is and my kids can't wait to have another cousin to play with. We went out for a half an hour before the sun set and I'm SO glad we did! I'm glad I convinced Ashley to do photos - hope you like them Ash!

I love this family. I know I probably say that about all the families I photograph, but I truly do. I met Natasha back during my Edmonton days while my hubby was in law school. I have so many fond memories with her and we've had some fantastic photo shoots together. I felt very honored that she and her family were willing to make the drive down from Edmonton for me to take their family photos.

And I just want to give a little shout out to Laura for her help and all the props that day. Thank you!

The kids were starting to get a little restless so we hopped in our vans and drove to McKay's Ice Cream Shop. The twins had their first ice cream cone ever and I'm so glad to have been there to catch their reactions. They LOVED it! Little Gloria wasn't quite sure what to do with it and kept trying to eat the cone first. They were covered and enjoyed every second. Wesley was so sweet and would come and share his with Laura and I. I just love these kids.

And really what can I say about Natasha... She is simply stunning. A photo I took of her a few years back won an International photo contest - need I say more. I love love love photographing her. She knows exactly what to do without any direction and makes my job that much easier. And Glen, you were great also :) Thanks for being awesome you two!

Kim is an insanely talented dancer! After taking a quick peek at the first shot of the day with her I knew things were going to be AWESOME! She totally exceeded my expectations. Being completely out of my element I decided to do a little "research" on dance poses/moves/positions before the shoot. I had my little drawing page with stick people posing all ready to go just hoping that she'd be able to do some of the poses. Kim did them all and more!!

She started dance for fun when she was about 10 years old. After 2 years taking a musical theater/jazz class on Saturdays, she then started at Centre 58 Dance Arts in Calgary where she considers her "real" dancing to have begun. Since grade 7 is considered pretty late to start dancing, her instructors pushed her hard to catch up with the other dancers. She started ballet and pointe, then went on to musical theatre, jazz, tap and competed with her first solo (to Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas).

Her freshman year of university she danced with the BYU Cougarettes, whom she danced with for 3 years. She's performed at Disney World and danced in the Electric Light Parade, worked with NappyTabs a few times (two of my all time favorite choreographers from the show So You Think You Can Dance), taught tap at BYU and has performed with a number of groups and teams.

Kim is now heading off to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She will be serving for 18 months in the Utah Salt Lake Temple Square mission. When she has finished serving for the church she plans to return to school. She's working on her dance education major and has 3 semesters left. Hopefully she'll come back and teach here - after seeing the pictures my girls were trying to reenact her moves and both said they wanted to start dance. I'd love for her to teach my girls :)

Sharna - Calgary Maternity Photography

I don't know how to say this without sounding creepy, but I totally love pregnant bellies. I mean, I'm not some crazy person that'll go up and rub your belly or anything like that! But there's something about it all that is just so incredible.

I'm SO glad that Sharna was up for prenatal photos. I remember what it's like to be 35 weeks pregnant and just NOT feeling it. BUT I totally and completely regret not having a single picture of me taken while I was pregnant. I have FOUR kids, so I had ample opportunity to do it... But that's besides the point.

When Sharna said she was up for maternity photos I was so excited! She had tried to convince me that she's not photogenic. I completely disagree! She totally rocked these photos. So Sharna, I don't ever want to hear you say you're not photogenic ever again. I will gladly take your photo any day :)

Oh, and guess what... She's having a GIRL! I can't wait to make a ton of cute little headbands to use for her newborn photos.

I am so in love with these little munchkins. I posted a few photos of my daughter Ella, and I just wanted to share a few of my favorites of the other kids.

Meet my baby, Will. It's hard to believe that this little man will be 3 this summer. And it'll just be the two of us come fall, as my little Livie Lou will start kindergarten!

Little Livie - my little ham. I'm so happy she still lets me take photos of her and plays things up for the camera. She's such a sweet girl and it makes me sad to think she'll be leaving us to go to school. I'm excited for her, but Will and I are really going to miss her.

And last but not least, my man, Austin. He starts middle school this year, and I'm just not ready for it. He's such a great help around the house, and is the best big brother the younger ones could ask for.

Please, someone tell these little ones to stop growing up! I just want to keep them way they are.

I recently purchased a few new backdrops and a gorgeous new floor for photos, and my little Ellie Bellie wanted me to take pictures. I absolutely LOVE it when my kids are up for pictures (it doesn't happen often...) As I was going through and editing these images I realized just how much she's grown up. She's not a baby anymore and it's very bitter/sweet. I look forward to seeing the woman she grows up to be, but I miss my baby girl.

2nd Shooting for NDK Photography

I had the opportunity to assist Nathan of NDK Photography for a wedding out at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. It's fun to be the 2nd photographer sometimes :) It gives me a chance to do more of the detail and candid shots. And I had WAY too much fun doing that with this wedding.

Courtney and Jonathan were a great couple and I wish them all the best. He's originally from England and she's from Calgary. They met about 5 years ago in Australia. Such a great story to tell the kids, right? Congratulations to you both!

The food was UNREAL. And if you know me, you'll be shocked to know that I actually ate Bison Carpaccio! hahaha

This was by far my favorite part of the whole 2 days!! No pressure. Just having fun on the beaches of Maui taking photos at sunset! I definitely recommend next day photos - it's much more fun and relaxed.

We took some photos at the Grand Wailea and then headed off to Makena Beach.

My brother and sister in law came for a really quick visit this past weekend. So of course we have to have a mini session! They wanted something different than the nature background this time, so we thought why not go downtown. I loved it!

It was an absolute pleasure meeting Katelyn and Justin. They are such a fun couple and were open to anything. We had a lot of laughs and after the short time I spent with them I felt like I'd known them forever. Justin was such a gem - it's not often you have a groom who's so willing to have photos taken.

At the family dinner it was so fun learning more about them. I think Katelyn and I would've been good friends if we'd grown up together. SO many of the same interests, it was awesome!!

After dropping my oldest daughter off at school, Alivia and I took advantage of the nice weather (for the brief time that we had it), and took a few pictures. Liv is terrified of bugs, especially ones that fly, and being outside in tall grass with bugs flying everywhere... well, you get the idea. She just wasn't into it. I think I ended up taking 8 pictures. So I'm really happy that I was able to find some that I loved. And we ended up with a huge thunderstorm shortly after we got home. Good timing I guess :)

I've been learning a lot of things in Photoshop lately and have had a blast going back to some of my favorite photos re-editing them. It's so hard NOT to go back and re-edit ALL the photos. I loved this session, so I picked a few to try out my new "techniques". What do you think?

It was really fun to try out different lighting for this session. I'm a natural light girl, so it was tricky, but fun using umbrellas and all those other foreign things hahhaha.
I love doing sessions like these. They're just so much fun!! I can't wait for the next one.

Susie - Calgary Maternity Photographer

It was so fun to hang out with Susie and take maternity pics. Feels like just yesterday that we were up in Edmonton taking photos of her pregnant with her daughter Sadie. Now we're back in Calgary doing photos of #2 on the way. Can you believe she's 35 weeks? I think she looks awesome!

It was absolutely freezing, but we managed to get a few cute shots. I'm SO excited for her. They don't know what they're having, which I love. Hopefully before the baby comes we'll be able to get some photos with her hubby and daughter. Anyhoo, here are some of my favs.

Amelia is an amazing woman. Seriously superwoman. She has a little boy and twin 1 year old girls (and her hubby's in med school... YIKES). I don't know how she does it. She's beautiful and funny. I love reading her comments on facebook, they literally crack me up. And good choice on the zebra Amelia (you know I'm all for animal prints). Thanks for the great day!

Jenny is another beautiful friend of mine and talented photographer. Here's her site (and on it are a few pics she took of me). She has a beautiful baby boy. She's training for a marathon and I'm so proud of her. Good luck with that Jenny! She was saying she had to buy the lightest shade of foundation at the MAC store... I'd LOVE to be the lightest shade if I could have beautiful, flawless skin like hers!

This girl is incredibly beautiful, photogenic, insanely talented and all around amazing person. She's the mom of 2 sweet little boys and a beautiful new baby girl. We've had a lot of fun together over the years - road trips, trips to TO, book clubs, many photo shoots, girls' nights and many more good times. We've done a few photo shoots together and this location was one of my favorites. I wish we had more time because just before she had to go we found another spot that was awesome. Oh Sarah! I love this girl! I seriously have the most beautiful friends. And I love that they let me photograph them :) Sarah has 2 adorable little girls (some pics of her and her daughter a few posts back). She's a very talented photographer. Sarah was working the camera and rockin' it out (and picked our wicked location). I can't get over how amazing her eyes are - they are the most incredible blue!

It's been so much fun getting to know Barb. She is a blast to be with, super talented and is insanely gorgeous and photogenic. She is the mom of two sweet little girls (who she makes the cutest clothes for!). Cool fact about Barb - she lived in France with her husband and daughter for 7 months just for the fun of it! She said it was an adventure they always wanted to do together, so they bought tickets, found a place and moved out! How cool would that be???
We've never done a photo shoot together before, but she totally rocked it out. No direction necessary which was awesome. Her outfit was perfect (I covet her jacket) and she looked amazing! Thanks for the great day Barb!

Jordana - Just for Fun

Jordana is soooo much fun and so beautiful! She is the mom of 2 adorable kids - a girl and a boy. She is always smiling and has the most infectious laugh. I can't think of a time we've been together where we're not laughing hysterically at some point. It's funny because she has the hardest time being serious so we spent a lot of the time just laughing, which made things much more fun.

I was able to do another quick session with another great family while in Edmonton. You might remember Ashley and her family from the pictures of the family of 17. I can't believe how much her kids have grown since I last saw them.Especially Jaymeson. I guess that happens when you only see someone once every 6 months or so, but still. It never ceases to amaze me - kids grow up WAY too fast!
Here are a few from their session. They wanted to have photos in front of the Edmonton Temple as a little reminder of their years in Edmonton. They're moving my way in the next month or so :) Good luck with the move and I hope you enjoy a the little sneak peak of your family photos.

I went up to Edmonton again this past weekend. Looks like I just can't get enough of the place. Actually, I'm just really missing some really amazing people that became my dear friends. So of course that means road trip!
While I was there I was able to do a really quick session with Kamry and her family. I finally got to meet her sweet little girl, Talia (only 5 months later!). She's adorable and totally reminds me of my kids - string bean. This little one is loooong and oh so skinny. Seriously love her!
I have to say I LOVE her tongue hanging out in some of the pictures. Kamry even said it showed the true Talia. Love it! Hope you enjoy them Kamry :)

Ella Belle - Calgary Kids Photographer

It was my little Ella's turn for pictures. She is such a great little girl and full of sass and spunk. I have to say I'm surprised I managed to get some photos without her sticking out her tongue or crossing her eyes. It's her favorite thing to do right now, but doesn't make for the nicest picture. All in all I do think we got some pretty cute ones. Now to decide which of Ella's and which of Liv's to enlarge for their room... Thoughts?

I had a great morning with Joanna and her girls. It's amazing how fast kids grow up! It's feels like yesterday that I took pictures of Maia when she was only a couple months old. My husband and I went to Cuba back in May of '09. I wish I had brought my DSLR with me as opposed to my point and shoot as there were SO many neat things there. Oh well, live and learn, right? So here are just a few.

They took amazing care of the resort and the gardens were beautiful.

The creatures were what made me glad to live in Canada. I'm soooo not a bug/lizard/creature person, but I thought my kids would like to see them.

I'd love to go back and spend more time taking pictures. There was soooo much to see and things to take pictures of, but my camera didn't want to cooperate and only worked half of the time. Looks like another trip is order, right?

I love that my kids will let me take photos of them. It's so fun! And the girls were so excited to wear the new outfits that their grandparents gave them for Christmas!

Will has been a bit of a snuggle bug lately and it puts a smile on my face. Ella was a little sad (not quite sure why) but Will saw her pouty face and immediately came up to her with big hugs. It made my day!

Little bit of a picture overload! My brother, sister in law and Summer came home for the holidays, and while they were here we took Summer's 6 month photos. It amazes me how much these little ones grow in such a short time. Plus not seeing her since she was born makes a difference too.

I think these are two of my favorites. I LOVE her soother! I almost wish Will still took one so I could get one like it hahaha... Almost :) Plus, I love zebra print :)
